LaFuma Futura Clipper Chairs Videos

*For embroidery options see below. Please note: The Batyline material CANNOT be embroidered. Therefore, if you select a Lafuma Futura Clipper XL recliner with Batyline Fabric, you CANNOT have it embroidered.

A more generously sized version of the Lafuma Futura Clipper, the Lafuma Futura Clipper XL recliner offers superior design with a little more room. The Clipper XL uses a series of elastic clips to suspend the mattress instead of Lafuma's more traditional elastic lacing system. The clipper system revolutionizes Lafuma's already superior design by improving support across the entire recliner and creating a slick look, all while eliminating the need to replace elastic laces. Best of all, the plastic clips allow easy removal of the mattress for cleaning.

Lafuma combines the Clipper's improvements with their tried and true zero gravity recline system. The cinematic recline system and easy-to-use tension levers beneath the armrests recline the Clipper to your desired position. To recline the Clipper zero gravity chair, shift your weight or push against the armrests.

Batyline Fabric: Lafuma's amazing Batyline® Fabric is extremely durable thanks to a polyester fiber covered by a coating of PVC, making your Lafuma mattress nearly impossible to tear. Batyline also keeps things green with environmentally friendly and Oeko-Tex certified material that is free from concentrations of harmful substances. Batyline demonstrates some amazing properties, including:

  • High resistance to rot, mildew, UV radiation, and fading.
  • Batyline withstands temperature extremes ranging from -22°F to 158°F.
  • Batyline's flexibility provides cushion-like comfort without cushions.
  • Resilient, Batyline stands up to use by the pool or salt water.
  • Thanks to a maximum 3% stretch, Batyline hardly sags. And it will regain its original shape when given a little time to rest out of the sun.

When you pick the color of your chair, choose from either Batyline or Batyline Natural. The standard Batyline fabric features a larger weave for excellent ventilation. The Batyline natural fabric features a tighter weave for a more tailored look. Padded models feature a 50/50 poly-cotton blend fabric and high-density foam for comfort and support.

What's the difference between the Lafuma Futura Clipper XL and the RSX XL recliner?

The Lafuma RSX XL recliner uses a system of laces to attach the mattress to the frame. The laces provide more give to the mattress than the clipper system, perfect for those who want a softer mattress feel. Removing the mattress is a bit more involved using the laces instead of the clipper system, making cleaning and storage more difficult. Additionally, the armrests of the Clipper XL make it easier to lean back in the chair without having to hook your feet over the footrest bar. Having tested both the Clipper XL and the RSX XL, the team at LafumaFurniture.com found the Clipper XL just a little easier to get in and out of.

The Futura Clipper XL holds up to 330 lbs and includes a padded headrest. Like all Lafuma folding chairs, the Clipper XL folds compactly for easy transport and storage.

Embroidery is now available on the headrest only of the following Lafuma Futura models:

  • Marine Padded
  • Outdoor Padded

General Cleaning and Care Instructions:
For all of the Lafuma chairs and recliners, simply rinse with soapy water or a mild laundry detergent.  Scrub gently.  A soft brush can also be used.  Rinse thoroughly and sun dry.  Repeat these steps as necessary.

Batyline (Mesh) Notes:
Batyline should be cleaned regularly.  Due to the fabric's mesh weave, the drying process is quick.

Padded Fabric Notes:
If the padded fabric gets extremely wet, let it sun dry until all of the water is gone.  Due to the padding, water can get trapped in the fabric.  Make sure to keep these chairs out of the rain whenever possible.

I never do "comments", good or bad. This company is a model for all internet retailers to follow...and "good luck with that!"

Great chair, marginal fabric

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , West Hartford, CT Date: August 07, 2010
I bought a traditional laced Lafuma chair 8 or 9 years ago. The laces started to go on the chair last year, so I purchased a set of laces....and decided to go for the new Futura Clipper XL. So I can provide some comparative comments. Lafuma overall design continues to be excellent. It is a very comfortable chair with a solid mechanism that stands up well over time. The Clipper seems to be an improvement, but given that's our new chair I've had no reason to remove the fabric. The XL size is very nice. A smaller person might not need it, but I love the difference. I'm just under 6' and 185 lbs. However, the quality of the fabric on the padded chairs has declined significantly. The fabric on our old chair looks brand new to this day. The new chair's color has faded dramatically and easily blotches from any staining material. When they are side by side, it is an amazing contrast. I've also found the new padding to be manufactured in such a way that any rain water builds up in a "valley" near the transition from seat to back. It takes very long to dry out. If you don't put the chair on its side to promote draining, it can take days in the sun to dry out...very frustrating. Final note: the drink holder on the seat is well worth the money and does the job nicely. Very sturdy. I would only buy the Batyline mesh chair now....and I may be doing just that to get another XL size now that everyone else in the family wants to use MY chair!

Comments from The Staff:

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Lafuma Futura Clipper XL chair with us. We're sorry to hear about your dissapointment with the padded fabric chairs, however I just wanted to make a note that Lafuma does not recommend using padded chairs outdoors. Here is an excerpt from the fabric care section of our website, where we have information from Lafuma about the care of padded fabric chairs:

Padded Canvas: The padded canvas Lafuma recliners are especially comfortable and well-suited for indoor use. High-density foam padding gives to your body's shape for total relaxation. A 50/50 poly-cotton blend canvas looks great when used as indoor furniture.

Care: Canvas fabric should be steam cleaned to avoid damage to the fabric. Because the canvas can be damaged by water, Lafuma cautions against outdoor use with the padded canvas. If you do wish to sit outside, be sure to store your Lafuma indoors after use.

Thanks!

Lafuma won over my husband + I am a total Lafuma groupie

Reviewer: Janet W , Chicago, NY Date: July 17, 2010
-back issues
-cat hair issues
-need to seat my clients in relaxed comfort
all FIXED with a Lafuma Clipper XL with batyline fabric. OK so the back issues aren't fixed, but this chair definitely helps my husband's back issues. All my clients love these chairs. I love to meditate in these chairs. We will probably end up with at least four of these chairs in our house. So far we have two. Oh and the cats don't really like the batyline material so they don't sit on the chairs, and even if they did the batyline material doesn't hold onto their hair like a normal fabric seat. Yay!

I have to figure out some way to cover up the metal top rounded corners of the chair because my clients recline and bash/mark up our white wall. (Very small room, therefore the chair cannot be positioned super far from wall). Any ideas on that would be appreciated. Also the locks on one of our chairs could be a little better, to hold the chair position. If we really jam the lock it works enough. I know I can return the chair for a different one, but it's not worth the trouble. Looooooooooove these chairs. My husband used to love our old couches which were terrible for his back. Once we got one Lafuma and he tried it now he's a convert. I swear I could do an infomercial on these! :-)

Comments from The Staff:

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the Lafuma Futura Clipper XL with us! We're so happy to hear that you are a Lafuma "groupie" and it has helped your husband's back problems. A suggestion I have for you for the chair marking your walls would be to pick up some sticky felt pads from your local hardware or home supply store, the ones designed to put under chairs and furniture to prevent them from scratching/marking floors. You could stick one over the part of the chair that is bumping the wall, and that would cushion the impact of it hitting your walls when reclined. Also, as for the locking mechanism of the chair, it is not meant to actually "lock" the chair into place. What you are referring to as "locks" are actually more like tension adjusters which just make it more difficult to recline the chair to hold the position better. However, this feature is not meant to prevent the chair from moving entirely, therefore they are working properly on your chair.

Thanks again!

Heaven on Earth

I cannot say enough about this chair. I have severe Spondylolisthesis and Arthritis and find sitting to be torture... that is until I purchased the Lafuma Clipper XL. I am 5'10" and love that my legs are finally fully supported. The backrest's extra length makes you feel very secure when fully reclined. It's well-made, very stable and most importantly, exceeds expectations in terms of providing a comfortable experience. I only wish it had wheels so I could use it at my desk! (I'm kidding of course)... but I do find myself sneaking out of my home office to catch a break in my Clipper XL. Back tension just seems instantly relieved. Don't hesitate about this purchase.

I Purchased one of these recliner for myself as I am a big man. When I recieved it could not believe how well made and comfortable the chair was! My wife sat in it and said she could sleep in this chair! Of course she wanted one for herself too. Today I ordered one for her! Will probably order more for our deck too! Going to use the two for the beach! If your considering this chair don't hesitate they are well worth the money, you will be happy you bought them!

Miracle Chair

Reviewer: Anonymous , York, PA Date: January 21, 2010
I have this super comfy chair and love it, so bought one as a gift for my dad. He has severe back pain. Thought it would be nice for him to sit in and hopefully give him some relief? He has slept in the chair every night since its arrival and he is almost pain free. He is mobile when he wakes up and no longer has to do stretching exercises to be able to walk. It was the best gift ever. I would highly recommend it for anyone with back pain. Thank you! :)

Great Recliner...But

3
Reviewer: Phil , Penryn, CA. Date: August 04, 2009
Our recliner came damaged; from shipping no doubt since there was no padding in the shipping box. One of the plastic arms on the chair was broken. LufumaFuniture wanted us to return the entire recliner instead of just sending the replacement part (Lufuma.com did provide the replacement part). The arms on the new recliner are all plastic instead of a combination of padding and plastic - this is a step backwards compared to our other two Lufuma recliners. The pillow on the chair was also different - not different good either - it had no contour to it like our other recliners, it was just a bag with stuffing in it. I feel the bottom lines is Lufuma is getting sloppy or cheap with their craftsmanship. I'm sorry I couldn't give this recliner a 5 rating.
