Our Review of the Lafuma Mellow indoor recliner

The Lafuma Mellow Recliner may be the most comfortable of all the Lafuma recliners. The Mellow takes all the fantastic features of the Lafuma RSX recliner, but adds a degree of padded comfort that you cannot get with any other Lafuma reclining chair.

In fact, it's the unquestionable comfort and construction of the Lafuma Mellow that also make it one of the more versatile zero gravity recliners in the Lafuma line.  Truly appropriate indoors but certainly for outdoors as well, its comfort provides relaxation not only for the casual lounger, but also is a great chair for folks recovering from surgeries, sprains or other ailments.

With the Lafuma Mellow, you get all the legroom, back support, and relaxation potential as the RSX Recliner, but with the added bonus of three centimeters of padding that runs the entire length of the seat, and an even cushier head rest than usual.

The Mellow's padding has a resilient, marshmallow texture, and the outer material is faux suede/micro fiber.  Sophisticated wood armrests top it all off.

The Lafuma Mellow may be the most indoor-oriented of all the Lafuma recliners. Thanks to its additional padding, the Mellow zero gravity chair provides supreme comfort for people recovering from an injury or surgery, and fits every where from the porch or patio to the living room.

Please Note: The cushioning of the Lafuma Mellow will retain water. While you can certainly take it out to the deck, or 'Mellow out' by the pool, it is very important that you take it back inside once you are through.

Very well thought out steel structure but the back should be straight. Also, a bit hammocky since the fabric is strapped on the sides only, so I had to have mine professionally upholstered.

Lafuma indoor lounger

This is my second Lafuma lounge chair. I like it a lot,but it turns out that with my particular physical condition (fairly acute cervical arthritis), the old one, an outdoor model, is actually a little more comfortable. The reason, I think, is that the canvas model has a little more "give" to it. The padding on the indoor model, although it looks nice, ends up causing my head to be pushed forward a little too much, which is the same problem that occurs with all the conventional recliners I have ever tried. I am quite sure that this would be of no concern to anyone without an upper back problem, and I congratulate you on your chair design.

Great Recliner

I love this chair. I have had problems when I sleep in my adustable bed with waking up in the morning with a backache. My back feels so much better after I sleep in this recliner. I do think it should have a warning label that says "If you do not want to go to sleep in this chair, do not lean back" I personally have slept many nights in the comfortable recliner. I love everything about it. To me it is well worth the price I paid.

Indoor Recliner

I bought the lafuma for easy transport for vacation. it' s well crafted, sturdy. I wish it was made out of aluminum. It would have been even lighter but even now still light enough. There is a curve at the back (not totally straight back).

Bought it for my wife who had a back injury last year. It is comfortable for her to use and she's happy with it. I've tried it also and it is definitely comfortable.

Comfortable, but some problems

Reviewer: Anonymous , Austin, TX Date: October 17, 2007
The Lafuma Mellow indoor recliner is comfortable once you get yourself in it. But the problem for somebody recovering from back surgery (which is my situation) is that it is difficult to get out of. There's a point where you have almost to hurl your body forward, which means bending at the waist--exactly the position one wants to avoid. I also have a zero gravity recliner from Relax the Back. It cost literally five times the price of the Lafuma indoor recliner but is much more comfortable and is designed so that one can rise without any awkward motions. For its price the Lafuma indoor recliner is good, but if you have serious back trouble or have recently had surgery I would buy one of the higher-priced brands, if you can afford it.

Comments from the Staff

Thanks for your review. I admit, I would hope that a $1000+ chair might have a little more to offer than the $229 Mellow! We have many reviews from folks dealing with back pain or recovering from surgery that have found Lafuma recliners to be just what the doctor ordered. But that said, we realize that every injury is different, and I'm sorry that the chair was simply not right for you. Again, we appreciate your feedback!
