Reviews for Lafuma Elastic Laces (Bungees)

To forwarn buyers of bungee cords, they are now thicker and do not need double threaded like the last ones. However the instructions have not been updated so I tried to double lace them with much effort and broke the top. I called them and they explained they no longer require double lacing (thank goodness because they are impossible to do!)

Here's a tip I'd like to pass along to purchasers of these laces. Only the bottom laces tend to wear out. So, I DOUBLE-LACED the bottom portion of the chair and -- WOW -- now the laces ARE NOT WEARING OUT. If you DOUBLE-LACE the bottom, then I think you might get the same great result.

Thank you for the speed of sending out laces. Our camping season is short and I hate to be without my favorite napping chair. Replacing the laces was really easy, but I do agree that it would be nice to just be able to purchase the longer laces seperately. Besides that, keep making this excellent product. Thanks again.

I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to get the Laces I ordered the next day,very fast,and if they wear as well as the original laces then it would be 5 stars!

Have chair 5 years, mattress like new, green frame a bit faded but we neglected it, left it outside continuously. 2nd replacement of cords. Seat areas only wore on 1st set. Got bright idea to double lace seat with a long cord and lace lower section with leftover short cords. Result was better support and less seat wear. Lasted longer until end joint failed on a seat. We love the comfort of this chair. Just added a side tray to indulge a bit more. C'est magnifique! France is better than the knock-offs from 3rd world countries, sold in the big box stores.

Only the bottom laces wear out. So far, they are lasting about six (6) months. Therefore, they represent a considerable cost factor that should be counted when adding up the total cost of ownership of a Lafuma recliner. They should sell the top and bottom laces separately and then reduce the cost of the bottom laces below what one must pay now for the combined package.

Thru Google I found the Lafuma site and ordered the replacement laces for our Lafuma chair - I ordered the laces and Lafuma quickly sent them out - My husband and I took out the old laces and put in the new without any trouble. If you need new laces this is the place to order them.

I have two Lafuma recliners that are five years old. The bungees were looking ragged. The new ones were very easy to "lace" on the recliners. I didn't realize how much elasticity the old bungees had lost. The new bungees have made my recliners just like new!

Original laces lasted 8 years through constant and heavy use. New Lafuma Elastic laces have totally refurbished chair - hope they last as long! Thank you for this option.

We love our Lafuma charis and use them everytime we are in our RV. Recently the bungees broke. I was looking into replacing the entire chairs when I found that you offered the Bungees as a replacement part. I was thrilled since our chair frames are in excellent shape. I was disappointed though that you could not also replace the chair cushion. Ours cushions are in excellent shape but have faded quite badly. I was informed that our chairs were purchased 8 years ago and that replacement was not available for the cushions. That being the case we ordered the bungees which came right away and my husband strung them with no problem.

Replacing the laces on my beloved 13 year-old Lafuma chairs has made them like new again! I wish that I had replaced the bungees years ago. Thanks for great customer service too!

This is the second set of Lafuma Elastic Laces I have purchased for the second chair I own. They make the chair like new for a fraction of the cost for a new LaFuma. They are also easy to install.

Replacing the old laces was very easy.

Very expensive for what one gets. Not strong enough for large men. More strength needed in the seat area.

The elastic laces were EASY to use and the chairs are like new! Just wish we didn't have to buy both long and short laces as it is the long ones that seem to wear out.

I've had my recliners for 10 years - as we live in the northeast they are used mid may - early sept they are kept inside during the other months. This is my 3rd time replacing the straps,(1st time I use tenting cords which didn't work 2nd time with Lafuma). I am replacing the current Lafuma straps after only 2 seasons of use. I am concerned that the quality of the cords are not the same as the orignals. Now am paying over $80 is maintenance maybe I should just be purchasing a new product all together. I find only the bottom cords break maybe they could be sold separate. The recliner has held up relitively well the wood has come off the arms but still look fine and are comfortable although the arms do get hot if not being cover/used.

We have used our LaFuma chairs for several years now and this is the second time I have replaced the laces. The ready to install laces, precut to length and ends attached are so easy to install, I was able to do all 4 of our chairs in one afternoon. After several years of hard use, the original bungees wore out. The new ones were easy to put on and the chairs are in hard use again.

I have replaced the bungees on my two Lafuma recliners several times. It is always the long ones that wear out, and always near where your knees go when you sit. You should address this somehow. I now have a surplus of short bungees because the upper section has never worn out. I keep my recliners indoors; maybe people who let them sit out in the sun have a different experience.

I too am disappointed with the longevity of the bungee cord. I use my chair for hours every day because of a neck injury, and the lifetime of the bungees is far less than a year in my use. The company was great and replaced the bungee under warranty, but I notice that the cotton bungee cover wears pretty quickly, and wonder if a nylon-covered elastic wouldn't last longer. I'm purchasing some nylon-covered shock cord (here: http://www.reefscuba.com/bungee.htm) to see if it lasts any longer.

Our Lafuma recliner had been stored outdoors since we purchased it four years ago. The elastic bungees holding the cushions to the frame were becomming dry and brittle and then one finally snapped. The set of replacement bungees that I ordered from Lafuma's website arrived a few days later. They were a perfect match and with the help of instructions printed from the website were very easy to install. Our recliner is back in service as good as new again.

Very simple to replace. And they are a bit stronger than the original, so they improve the chair's overalll support and comfort.

I actually wanted to get new chairs because I thought restringing the chairs would be a miserable job. Well, it turned out to be quite easy. I did 2 chairs in about an hour and was very happy I decided to fix them. After I was done and I sat in the chairs, they felt like new. I would absolutely recommend the Elastic Laces (Bungees)

I have had my LaFuma chair for over 10 years and have had to replace the bungees twice now. I would have to say it would have been nice to have instructions with the replacements since my original chair info is long gone. I didn't notice any difference in these new and improved bungees in the installation and will have to see how long they last. I love my chair and have sat in many of the "replicas" and they just aren't as high quality.

I purchased my Lafauma recliner in 1999 and this is the first time I have had to replace the laces. They were easy to install and have made my chair feels brand new!

I felt the original laces failed far too quickly. I kept the chair out of the elements and I only had the chair for about 18 mos. With that said, and you are going to take a "hard line" on sticking to your warranty, you could at least charge less for the replacement laces.(I could have almost bought another chair for that price and it would have lasted as long as your laces) I already stated this in your other survey and you were unresponsive. Why do you do surveys and not respond?

Easy to replace, Good instructions available on-line. I didn't have any trouble replacing the Laces and they were the right length. That is different from a lot of replacement parts that you order on-line. They were easy to order also. Overall, a good experience.

the new replacement lace package actually says that they are improved from past laces and yet, under better conditions and one fourth of the time, they are already starting to fray. I have even lost 15 lbs since I bought the new *improved laces*. I think I will just take the measurements and make my own next time; that is if my outdoor lounger doesn't rust out completely before I need my third pair of new laces in the two years that I have owned this gift. Can you tell how disappointed I am with this product? IF you think that I am upset you should talk to my wife. She bought this lounger as a birthday gift and even though I did everythng that I could to hide its deficiencies they were too obvious. And he was so proud due to my excitement so she feels just horrible about it. And the cost?!? The lounger is not worth one-third of what my wife paid for it and the laces are not worth 10% of what I paid for them. At least they are supposedly giving people, like myself - at least we assume - the ability to tell others to stay away from this product until it has gone through a major price reduction as they are extremely comfortable.

I have to wonder if an 'old' set was packaged at the factory in a 'new' package. I was amazed at how easy it was to replace the laces in our Lafuma.

Replacement is easy if you just follow taking out the old with putting in the new.

I received the item within a few days of ordering. I was able to relace two chairs within 3/4 hour. The product works great. I will definitely order again when required.

Best service ever! We knew exactly when our order left your location (about two hours after we placed the order). The laces were easy to install and the chairs now feel like new!! We hadn't realized how much they were sagging. We'll take Lafuma Furniture.com's advice after this and replace the laces every two years.

The replacements were the correct length and the quantity exactly as needed to replace the original laces.

LaFuma was expedient in getting the laces to me. Then, I thought, I will never be able to redo my chair like it was when it was new!!! Surprise!!!! In no time at all, the chair was relaced with the new green bungee laces and looked & felt like new. For the money, these are a good bargain when you get a good end result. I would never buy any other kind of chair except for LaFuma!!!!

While the laces are fine and it's nice that there is such an option, it's a shame that the original laces don't hold up better. I think it's ridiculous that they cost $20 as well when the chair itself is so expensive - a chair at that price should hold up better in the first place and if it doesn't, the company should give you a courtesy of replacing the laces at a minimal charge. I've had my chairs just a few years, use them only 2-3 months/year and have had to replace the laces twice already! That's quite an expense for a chair that costs over $100 to begin with!

First off, your service for product replacement was excellent. That being said, I purchased this RSX chair through a store other than yours and received the product approx 10 days later. I use the chair in my covered 15'W x 10'D covered patio exclusively. I am a smoker who does not smoke indoors, hence I spend,on average, 1 hour per day in usage. I was exteremly disappointed with the such short life of the seat and leg bottom cords. Your replacement cords were advertised as being "improved" and indicated a longer life span than the originals. Last eveing, 9-10-07, the left side suspension cord broke. I had your package containing a spare "long" cord and restrung the chair this date. I am somewhat disappointed with the life of the seat and leg cord life. The right side, which was the first required replacement(in about 3 months)is already showing signs of "fraying" and anticipate failure in the near future. I realize I could have gone back to the original point of purchase pertaining to the original replacement, but they offer no accesories or replacement products. Hence, I went to your website and found that I could purchase an entire set (2 long, 2 short cords). At $20 USD plus shipping this product, while considering the chair totally comfortable and enjoyable, the cord replacement (and apparent frequency of replacing cords) is turning into a rather expensive piece of furniture to maintain. Given that, there is no wear to the seat back cords, it would be much more attractive (and cost effective) to offer a single pair of bottom laces and a pair of back laces seperately. I urge your marketing department to make this consideration as I am sure that I am not the only product owner who has (and is) experiencing this condition. I found your product through a friend who has owned his chair for nearly 10 yrs. His only complaint was the same as I have amplified on as described above. His solution was to subsitute the bungee lacing with Army/Navy surplus store paarchute cord. Innovative, but using this puts excess strain on the seat/leg grommets and am sure will ultimately promote seperation of the grommets thus incurring greater expense for repair. I urge you to offer seperate lacing sets for sale and at a reduced shipping charge than the present set for 4 laces. I would welcome having the opportunity to buy say tw0 (2) pairs of seat/leg laces for one charge than have to pay for back lacing I don't need and which don't seem to wear as quickly. I wish to add that I have read the recommended seat mounting, weight limitations, etc. I don't "plop" into the seat but settle in gradualy. Since I normally sit in the chair without reclining, it would be advisable to look into making the seat/leg cords of a consirderably heavier quality than now offered. Comments Respectfully Submitted

The new bungees made our LaFuma lounges like new again. Your web site instructions were helpful in the double up areas but over all the installation was a breeze. Excellent refurbish product.

Product was just what I needed and expected. Installation was a cinch.

Excellent. Restrung 2 chairs in about 30 minutes.

The laces are very convenient but the plastic tab ends are not up to standard. We have two chairs so we laced the replacement laces exactly the way the originals were laced. We have already lost one plastic clip and had to put knots in its place. This was in an upper lace so it was not a load bearing area. Other than the clip, they are very user friendly.

The Lafuma Elastic Laces were delivered quickly and were easy to install, they are the only things that have needed replacement on the Lafuma chair that we have had for more than 5 years. It's nice to know that an inexpensive item will keep my Lafuma chair usable for years to come.

Our chairs are at least 5 years old and the cords were wearing thin. I was so glad to see that your website offered replacement bungee cords and in precut packages. I wasn't sure what model chair we had but the package worked. The price of the bungees is not bad. I would definitely use this site for additional accessory or replacement parts.

The first laces that I received were damaged. Lafuma sent another set after I returned the first. The second set were fine. I have two chairs and love them. one on the porch and one in the Family room.

When my Lafuna chair laces rotted away, I was thrilled to see that I could order them on-line and at a reasonable cost. The directions were simple and easy-to-use. I thought I might have to buy new chairs but I'm glad I looked on the Internet to see if I could just purchase the laces. I have one recommendation, however. I bought these chairs a long time ago. I don't have a clue what model number I have. The top of the chair has 12 grommets for laces. The directions for the laces I purchased call for 10 grommets. I had to really stretch the laces to make them work. (Fortunately, I didn't have a nail emergency or that would have been ugly.) I wish there had been some direction on the web site as to how many grommets were in each section of the chair so that I would have ordered the correct laces. Hopefully, I didn't miss this. Other than this, the laces are a great product.

Easy to use to repair the chair.

While the laces were very easy to replace and the price was right the shipping was NOT. I don't know why they could not have just sent the laces through the US Postal Service. I was very pleased with the laces and how easy it was to replace them, i was not pleased the with cost of the shipping.

I love my Lafuma chair and when the elastic laces had broken and I found they sold replacement laces, I was thrilled. When they arrived it was easy to re-lace, following the pattern of the side that didn't break. The chair was new again!!! Heaven!

The replacement laces for my Lafuma Recliner were easy to replace - my daughter and I finished the task in only 15 minutes. I appreciate the fact that the original laces lasted for several years and cost only $20 to replace.

I am happy with the product. I use my chair often. However, my only criticism was that it took a long time to get the replacement bungees due to them being on backorder.

Laces are excellent. The lace up would be easier if there was a guide or pattern to follow on or in the package.

I love my Lafuma chair and was devistated when the elastics broke this spring. Not knowing what to do, I looked at the label on the chair and decided to check the internet for parts. To my surprise and delight, I found you right away and got them the next day! They were very easy to install and I'm back to enjoying my chair. The only problem I had was that it was not clear that the package would contain all of the bungees for the chair. I ordered two packs because I didn't know how many I would recieve. Discription should be clear on that point. Otherwise, I am very please and now have a back up set.

The items were received in a timely manner and were easily replaced by following the instructions which were included.

Had to replace the elastics after about 10 yrs. in a hot (AZ) environment. Would've loved to have had a diagram to follow rather than just the written instructions. Luckily we have 2 chairs & I hadn't removed the old elastics from both yet so I could mimic the pattern off the one. Confusing at first, but not so bad once you figure it out.

I just relaced completely, 2 chairs. Process was straightforward and the replacement cord quality was very good.
